I am a Nancy Drew fan. I have been ever since my sister introduced me to the Nancy Drew computer games 7-8 years ago. When I found out the games came from books (And that my sister owned all of the yellow books), I wanted to read them.

However, I discovered that Nancy Drew didn’t interest me as much in her original book incarnation. The newer series (The ones that look like this) interested me. Maybe they were more modern? I don’t know. I just didn’t like the original yellow ones that much.

But then my mum gave me a stack of books. She told me they were by the same author, but they weren’t the original Nancy Drew books. They were the Dana Girls books. My mum had apparently been collecting them, in case either I or my sister wanted them. They hadn’t intrigued Sissy, but I took to them for some odd reason.

It might’ve been the boarding school setting made their old fashion-ness more forgivable than Nancy’s. It might’ve been the fact that there’s two girls instead of one. It might’ve been the frozen fountain on the cover of the first one I read. It might’ve been the fact that my copy of By the Light of the Study Lamp was falling apart (It has since been replaced). But something about Louise and Jean Dana just intrigued me and kept me.

I sped through all the books my mum had given me in record speed. I finished at least one a day and I took them with me whenever I could. I liked Jean better than Louise and I was incredibly frustrated when I realized that Jean was blonde (Even though I’m technically a blonde, I didn’t like them much as a child. I always wanted to be dark haired, like the rest of my family).

One thing that really sucks about the Dana Girls is how incredibly hard they are to find. And how few people know about them. Nancy survived the century better, but I still wish people remembered Jean and Louise existed. I guess that’s why I’m making this post. Nancy wasn’t the lone female detective in the 30’s.

❝Wow, I do not care about that problem.❞

Well, hello, gorgeous! This game just got better.
Seriously though. I just spent five minutes staring at him, and he doesn’t even acknowledge Nancy! I mean, how rude can you get?! Or maybe he’s just ignoring me cause I’m staring at him. Not sure.
And he keeps scratching his cheek. How hard is it to get that itch buddy?
